OPENING HOURS
The Gardens are officially
open daily during daylight hours, although night access is permitted (to visit the glow worms) and main areas are
lit, although side paths are not.
The gardens are admittance free.
There is no access charge to the Gardens or Begonia House.. |

The Begonia House is open from 10 am to 4 pm during the winter, and 10 am to 5 pm during the summer
The adjoining Garden Cafe is open 11 am to 3 pm during weekdays and 10 am to 4 pm during weekends in winter
and 10 am to 4 pm during summer. It is closed Christmas Day
The Chapel in the Bolton Street Memorial Park open 10 am to 4 pm daily
The Carter Observatory and Golden Bay Planetarium are open 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, and 12 pm to
5 pm weekends, school and public holidays.
Planetarium shows run 6.30 pm - 10.30 pm Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. Planetarium shows, short talks
and telescope viewing. |
Car parking
Limited
parking is available by the Rose Garden approached by Centennial Way approached from Tinakkori Road, and by the
Seddon Memorial and Cricket Pavilion by the Bolton Street Memorial Park. Parking in these areas is limited to 2
hours or as indicated.
Parking will generally be available all along Glenmore Street/Tinakori Road by the Main Entrance, West Way Entrance.
Limited parking will also be available at The Glen and Mariri Road entrances, but at all these entrances Coupon
Parking applies for stays exceeding 3 hours.
Parking close to the City is available but may be difficult to find, and can be expensive.
